80% of East Africa is agricultural dependent. Survey after survey, inclusive of YADEN 10 Most Significant Skill Set 2015 has shown that Agriculture remains the unrivaled untapped opportunity in all the east African countries. On average young people do not like career in farming and this stems from negative socialization about farming, Farming is associated with hardships, poverty, and punishment among other negative association.

By making Farming Attractive, Accessible and gainful for young people through attitude change promotion, impacting of new farming skills that are technology driven besides advocating for progressive policies and practices that govern farming will ensure increase in farming related income throughout its value chain. This will provide employment among many unemployed youth and subsequently promote economic growth and the resultant development achievements such as reduction in poverty and improvement in youth and their communities’ livelihoods.

Since its founding in 2003, YADEN has established itself in over 31 localities throughout East Africa, Working with and for over 617 Youth Platform of Opportunity (YPO) Groups that have by extension empowered and Engaged thousands of young people.
